Fascia was first brought to my awareness long before I began working in Holistic Wellness. When the traditional medical route could provide no answers for the constant pain I felt in my body I sought out alternative and holistic modalities hoping for relief. One of the modalities I experienced was Rolfing, which became my introduction to fascia. Rolfing is a form of myofascial release focused on working with fascia. This therapy was created by Dr. Ida Rolf, a pioneer in recognizing the importance of fascia.
At that time, I knew very little about fascia. However it was obvious to me that treating it made a difference in how I looked and felt, as well as how my body functioned.
Until recently it seemed that fascia was a foreign concept to most who were not somehow connected to bodywork, physical therapy, or fitness. Nowadays that is changing, largely in part to the work of fascia expert Ashley Black. Her teachings have shed new light on why treating, and creating healthy fascia is so important to our overall health.
So what is fascia? Fascia is the connective tissue network from head to toe that holds the body together. It is made up mostly of densely packed collagen fibers that create a full body system that wrap, divide and permeate every one of your muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels and organs. If you've heard your massage therapist say everything is connected, Fascia is what connects it all together.
The function of this overlooked system of the body includes:
- Forming the container for all of the structures under the skin.
- Organs, blood vessels, and nerves are supported by fascia.
- Fat storage, Cellular health, and Metabolism are all said to be influenced by the health of fascia in the body.
It is a main factor in your posture, your flexibility and ability to move freely, and even how susceptible you are to injury. From a beauty standpoint, according to Ashley Black, distorted fascia is the cause of cellulite.
Awareness of the importance of healthy fascia has inspired many to learn self treatment techniques such as using a FasciaBlaster. Because of the many benefits and body transformations I have seen from using the Fascia Blaster on myself, as well as with clients, I am now offering Fascia Blasting as a service to all clients.
Those new to fascia blasting have loved getting guidance during a session. Long time users of the fascia blaster have said regular sessions with me are a great way to stay on track, and they very much appreciate being able to relax while a profession does the work. If you are interested in learning how a session with me could benefit you, or you know you are ready to get scheduled, message me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'm looking forward to seeing you soon!
